Dutch illustrator Bodil Jane works from a small mezzanine studio in Amsterdam, where she creates thoughtful and eye-catching illustrations. Her work is often female-focused, featuring characters or situations that her audience can relate to. Bodil also builds a rich level of detail through patterns and ornaments. It’s a characteristic she puts down to her love of collecting, regularly visiting busy environments such as flea markets and botanical gardens for inspiration.

Poodle Society
This piece was inspired by my obsession with poodles! I have a toy poodle myself: his name is Miso (bottom right). I also love spotting poodles in Amsterdam. Their owners take them everywhere — on the bike, in their backpacks, etc. I love how affectionate and playful they are. Also quite a handful, as they’re so smart! The fashion and bikes are inspired by Amsterdam, but a paradise version with palm trees, for a bit of fun.
